Set Up Your Hyperlocal Seller Account

Learning path: Hyperlocal Seller | Module 1 of 5 | Estimated time: 25–35 minutes

What you will learn

After this module, you should be able to explain the Hyperlocal Seller role, confirm account and bank readiness, identify authorised users, verify the approved location and 10 km serviceability rule, and complete the go-live readiness check.

1. Understand your Hyperlocal Seller role

The Hyperlocal Seller is the independent seller of record for each customer product sale. The Seller remains responsible for lawful product supply, accurate product and stock information within its control, the customer invoice, fulfilment, after-sale cooperation and evidence. SportsMart operates the Marketplace, maintains the customer-facing catalogue and price administration, facilitates the order and payment workflow and provides approved support processes.

You must

• Use the correct legal entity and approved Seller Account.
• Supply genuine, lawful and approved products.
• Issue the customer invoice in the Seller’s legal name/GSTIN where applicable.
• Maintain physically available stock at each approved location.
• Follow the accepted agreement, commercial schedule, policies, SOPs and current Seller Portal workflow.

You must not

• Treat SportsMart as the seller of your product.
• Use another seller’s account, location, bank details or tax identity.
• Accept an order outside the approved location/serviceability or without genuine available stock.
• Share credentials or allow unauthorised staff or vendors to operate the account.

2. Complete account verification

Confirm the legal name, entity type, PAN, GSTIN where applicable, registered/business address, authorised signatory, primary contact, grievance contact and other requested KYC/KYB information. Details entered in the account must match the supporting documents. Report material changes through the approved workflow.

Bank and payout verification

Use a bank account held in the approved Seller’s name or otherwise accepted through the verification process. Independently verify any request to change bank details. Never share an OTP, password, UPI PIN, card PIN/CVV or banking authentication secret with a person claiming to process a change.

3. Accept the correct Seller Terms Package

Review the exact Hyperlocal Seller Agreement, Commercial Schedule and applicable documents presented for acceptance. Confirm the displayed commission and Seller-specific values before Electronic Acceptance. Preserve the acceptance record and applicable version. Training completion is not a substitute for contractual acceptance.

4. Set up authorised users

Create named, attributable users with the minimum permissions required for their role. Separate account administration, product/stock operations, order processing and finance access where practical. Remove or reduce access promptly after a role change, resignation, vendor change or suspected compromise. Use MFA where supported or required.

Account safety check

□ Each user has an individual login.
□ Passwords and OTPs are not shared.
□ Former employees and vendors no longer have access.
□ Bank-detail changes require independent verification.
□ Material Security Incidents can be reported within 24 hours.

5. Verify your approved location

Each pickup/store location requires separate approval. Approval of one location does not approve another. Confirm address, pincode, operating hours, pickup contact, tax linkage, return/RTO destination and any required geolocation or logistics mapping.

Hyperlocal Seller serviceability

The maximum Hyperlocal Seller serviceability is 10.00 km from each approved pickup/store location. Both the system eligibility and distance rule must be satisfied. A pincode shown as generally serviceable by a carrier does not override the 10 km maximum. Do not manually promise statewide, inter-State or national fulfilment.

6. Confirm tax and invoice readiness

Verify GST registration and product-tax information where applicable, customer invoice series, legal name, address and GSTIN. Do not guess HSN/GST or manually alter system-approved order values. Obtain qualified tax advice where your treatment is unclear; this learning material is operational guidance, not tax advice.

7. Complete the go-live readiness check

Do not begin live fulfilment until the following are ready:
□ Legal entity, PAN/GST and bank beneficiary verified.
□ Seller Terms Package electronically accepted.
□ Approved location and return/RTO route active.
□ Authorised users and backup order owner available.
□ Approved categories, brands and products identified.
□ Invoice, printer/label and packaging process tested.
□ The device, camera and Seller Portal photo-upload process have been tested using a safe sample order.
□ Stock-update process works for store-counter and online sales.
□ Courier handover and evidence process understood.
□ Support, grievance, counterfeit/safety and security escalation routes understood.

Practical task

Using your actual account or a safe training copy, complete an Account Readiness Note containing: Seller legal name; Seller Account ID; approved location; return/RTO location; authorised users and roles; bank beneficiary status; GST status; invoice readiness; camera and Seller Portal photo-upload readiness; maximum serviceability; backup order owner; and unresolved items. Do not enter passwords, OTPs or bank authentication data in the note.

Self-check

1. Who is the seller of record for the customer product sale?
2. Does a serviceable pincode allow delivery beyond 10 km?
3. What should you do when someone requests an urgent bank change and asks for an OTP?
4. Does completing this module activate the Seller account?
5. Which users should retain access after an employee leaves?

Ready to continue?

Continue only when you can answer all five questions correctly and the go-live checklist has no unexplained gap. Next: 02 – Add Products and Keep Stock Accurate.
